IThe purpose of the Lake Chapala Painting Guild is to further the professional development of “brush and palette” painters who use oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, collage or mixed materials to produce “wall” art–no photography nor digital images are accepted nor will be included unless part of mixed media collage.
IIn August 2011 several artists met to discuss the creation of an art group to focus on juried exhibitions of paintings and pastels only, separate from an existing judged local group exhibiting paintings, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fabrics, etc.
It was soon evident that officers would be required. The group selected Lois Schroff to be its first President, Beverly Kephart stepped forward to be Vice President and Membership Chair, Winnie Hunt became Secretary and Geraldine Classen volunteered to be the Treasurer.
In addition it was also felt that all members should be required to volunteer to help the Guild achieve the goals of presenting professional exhibitions, as well as advancing the quality of art,by arranging educational programs.
